Char Siew noodle soup is a staple of Chinese cuisine. It consists of marinated BBQ pork with Chinese cabbage and finely chopped spring onions in a soup
This particular example is from Wong Kei in ChinaTown. Also known as the “McDonalds of Chinatown” it has been a favourite of students and Londoners since the 1970s. With massive portions and cheap prices, this is hardly a surprise. It is NOT an example of fine cuisine, but an example of cheap filling food.
Wong Kei is also infamous for being the “Rudest Chinese Restaurant in London”. I have several examples during my years of pure unadulterated insults from the surly waiters!
