Olympic Sunset over Camden Market…
I visited Camden today, for the second week of the Camden Lock Night Market. The pre-market Olympics launch night was packed last Thursday. However, on this second week, the mid-Olympics Thursday there were noticeably fewer people around. This isn’t an isolated event, almost every shop, restaurant or bar manager I have spoken with recently, has seen takings significantly down comparison to the same period last year.
Sky News aired a special report from Greenwich Market whose traders claim that Olympic tourists are herded away from their stalls. Additionally, they stated that their weekencdd trade was down 70-80% compared to last year. So given all the above, can someone explain what is meant when Boris Johnston pronounces that “The Olympics are good for London”?
