BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: The Gory Gourmet Brain Burger Truck… Shut Down immediately by Lambeth Council

The Gory Gourmet was shut down immediately this lunchtime by Lambeth Council officials in front of a angry queue who had been waiting patiently for their brain burgers.

Brain Burgers! No joke…

It seems that Lambeth Council doesn’t “need your brains”. The Gory Gourmet food truck, from chef Mark Jankel, features ‘brain food’ such as burgers, brain dippers and brain chunks with BBQ sauce. However the council was not amused.

The closure of the brain giveaway was not over squeamishness. It appears that complaints from Lower Marsh Market traders on the other end of Lower Marsh Street sent a lone official to face off with a hungry crowd numbering over 40 people, some had been waiting in line for 30 minutes or longer. One potential ‘brain-eater demanded the number of a contact from the council to complain “for wasting my time” while another (a local business owner himself) expressed his exasperation to the crowd stating that “Lambeth are the worst council I’ve ever dealt with” and went on to explain his multiple stories of woe.

MAINS:

Big Brain Burger
– Brain burger with smoked mustard mayo, lettuce and cheese in a seasame seed bun

Crispy Brain Dinners
– Crispy chunks of brain with BBQ Sauce

Brain Salad Wrap
– Crispy chunks of brain with wild rocket and tarragon mayo

SIDES:

Feed and Thyroid Nuggets
– Nuggets of pig’s feed and cow thyroid with herb mayo

Skewered Hearts
– Grilled beef heard skewers with horseradish mayo

The Lambeth Council official explaining that he has ‘shut down’ the Gory Gourmet

The Gory Gourmet is the ‘brainchild’ of chef Mark Jankel of Street Kitchen fame and claims to be “the world’s first gastronimic ‘brain food’ menu”. The entire menu is made from brains and offal and was created to promote the DVD and Blu-ray release of “The Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season”.

Prior to the arrival of Lambeth Council, The Gory Gourmet has been parked on the junction of Lower Marsh and Leake Street and has been generating lots of interest from curious office workers and passers by. With a significant crowd and groups hanging around munching on brain burgers it was a shame to see the vibe vanish. Fortunately there wasn’t a big ‘zombie riot’ but the crowd was definiately hungry for brains.
