Bompas & Parr, the modern day ‘Willy Wonker-esque’ duo of London’s food scene are creating a Mercedes Drive Thru’ at Selfridges for Fashion Week.
Speaking to Sam Bompas on Wednesday, I had the impression that their partnership with Selfridges appears to be rock solid.
Bompas & Parr have now taken the roof space of the iconic department store for the last two years. Firstly for a giant ‘punch bowl’ boating lake and this year for an eccentric London landmark inspired crazy golf course!
More details from their press release…
During London Fashion Week, Bompas & Parr will open a Mercedes Drive Thru beneath Selfridges.
As part of the Avant/Garde Diaries curatorial programme we are working with light artists Jason Bruges Studio to create a vast pulsating light installation which illuminates as you drive through it to pick up emotionally compelling food.
The Mercedes Drive Thru is located in the 40m long marble entrance of the old Selfridges hotel and features a revolving restaurant, troupe of roller girls (The Baconators), uniforms by Tour de Force and triptych The Four Horsemen of the Oesophagus.
The menu has been developed following research into the culinary implications of in-car dining with Dr Rachel Edwards-Stuart and will push your cup-holders to the limit.
