The London 2012 @Zagat Survey Results… congrats to @PittCueCo!

The results of the Zagat 2012 London Survey are in!

Despite the recession, it appears that the food industry is booming in London! According to Zagat, they have rated nearly 2,000 venues, a record for London. They noted the huge number of openings this year and special mentions were given to newcomers Pitt Cue Co, Dabbous, Pizarro, Burger & Lobster and Cut at 45 Park Lane who all had high ratings in their debut year.

Out of all these places, my outstanding venue has to be Pitt Cue Co. Starting from a food trailer and progressing to a bricks-and-morter venue in Soho, it’s great to see these boys at the head of the “Top Rated Newcomer” section.

Interestingly enough, although the quality and variety of cuisine on offer has improved in London. The survey did note that;

“Londoners are eating out only 2.2 times per week – well below the rates in New York, Paris and Tokyo, which run from 3 to 4 times a week.”

I do wonder if this is due to the relative cost of eating out. During my visits to New York I noticed that it is a lot easier to eat at the lower end of the market. I met colleagues who NEVER ate at home and visited a friend who had NEVER used his cooker!

Survey highlights are below for TOP RATED NEWCOMERS, FAVOURITES, BEST BUYS and TOP SPOTS BY CUISINE. (Numbers in brackets are last year’s placings).
