Flesh & Buns is a new venue by the Bone Daddies Group. Surprisingly this new and much larger sibling to Bone Daddies Ramen Bar in Soho does not sell ramen. Instead it focuses on small bites and larger sharing plates of meat to be stuffed inside little fluffy ‘hirata’ buns. Hence the name “flesh” and “buns”

The Flesh & Buns website proudly calls itself an “izakaya”. According to Wikipedia, this is a “compound word consisting of “i” (to stay) and “sakaya” (sake shop), indicating that izakaya originated from sake shops that allowed customers to sit on the premises to drink.”

I know little of these places, however that sounds like Japanese name for a pub serving food… albeit with saké instead of beer. Fantastic!

In the meantime, I suggest that you order lots of the awesome chicken skewers which were amazing and bring a few mates to tuck into the portions of Flesh & Buns Section of the menu which offers steaks, pork belly, baby chicken, duck legs, salmon teriyaki, sea bass, lamb chops and pork shoulder

Who wants to get together to try the “Party Flesh XXL” menu section with 2 KG of lamb or pork shoulder…

  1. I brought two of my mates to try the XXL pork shoulder, I previously dropped by to say we are interesed could they prepare it for our arrival at 1800 hours and I told them at 1600, the bloke said sorry you need to ask at 1800 hrs as the kitchen isn’t ready… I thought I know they aren’t ready but can’t they sort it out as I have forewarned them….

It did take ages to arrive more than the 1 hour needed, it was very well made, the three of us did destroy it 😀

I was slightly annoyed about how often at first they kept asking us for drinks when we already ordered drinks, they even gave us a bottle of water which I asked for it to be taken off as they gave us 2 bottles of tap water…

Bill was roughly 30 quid each for shared 2 starters, the pork shoulder, 3 deserts and 4 beers. It was okay I don’t know if I would go back again though.

  2. Booking made! Bring on the chicken skewers and hirata buns…
