If you’ve been hearing a lot of buzz today on twitter today about #NationalBurgerDay. this is because the this is the First National Burger Day for the UK. (Unsurprisingly the Americans have at least TWO of them already, according to Tweat Up).
People like my burger-loving friend in the picture above will be extra pleased because you can visit any restaurant in the guide with a printed voucher for 20% off burgers to celebrate.
NATIONAL BURGER DAY – PARTY BY ‘TWEAT UP’
‘Tweat Up’, the gang behind ‘Rib Stock’, ‘Taco Wars’ and other foodie exploits are holding a party at Dalston Yard, best known as the current home of Street Feast London.
There will be TEN burger vendors serving National Burger Day from a 340g (3/4 pound) triple-patty monster from Bleecker Burger down to a 75g slider from Breddos Tacos for those with modest appetites.
Keep an eye out for more unusual offerings including a Rib Fat ‘n’ Marrow burger by pop-up specialists ‘Two Nights Only’ and the ‘Toddy Shop No 5’ Burger from Roti Chai. This is the next incarnation of their London Burger Bash burger which surprised many with its unique combo of Indian spices.
Andy Bates, presenter of The Food Channel’s Street Eats will be showcasing his Pie Burger. An entire burger, encased by pie!
BURGER ICE CREAM
For those with a sweet tooth, and a taste for something different, Sorbitium Ices will be serving a “Burger Ice Cream” as leaked here on twitter… (click on the instagram link below for an image)
