WHAT’S GOING ON?
This is the third weekly update of “What’s happening?”, “What’s opening?”, “What’s new?” and “What’s good?”. This lists events, openings, streetfood, bars, plus anything interesting which has sprung up on my radar. It won’t be a comprehensive listing, as there are way too many in our great city and there are others already doing a great job of that right now.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is also my 1,000th post… many thanks for tuning-in.

Flip & Dip (Gravy-centric Comfort Food – Clapham Junction)
(Opened Thu 12-Sep-2013)
Flip & Dip unashamedly serves up comfort food in the form of French dip Sandwiches alongside burgers, poutine and melts. For the uninitiated, a French Dip is a meat sandwich served with beef and veal bone gravy, made on site. In this place, EVERYTHING comes with a pot of gravy for dunking! Great for the cold weather, about 5 mins walk from Clapham Junction Station.

Pont St. (Seafood – Mayfair)
Now Open – Sophie Michell, former Private Chef for Claudia Schiffer and TV presenter has opened a “contemporary seafood” restaurant at the Belgraves Hotel. As expected for a former chef for a supermodel, Sophie will bring “healthy, lighter fare The menu is described as “an eclectic range of dishes ranging from crudo, small plates, starters, salads to mains comprised of fresh seafood prepared a la plancha.”. Meat lovers, note the “Gloucester Old Spot pork chop with celeriac gratin, apple jelly and ‘Waldorf’ salad.”

VQ (Vingt Quatre) – Opening End Oct
Shamefully for a modern city like London, only a handful of restaurants in the capital are open 24h. One of them is Duck & Waffle (The City), another is Balans (Soho) which is nearly there at 22½h, and one is VQ24 (Fulham Road). This venue first opened in London as ‘Vingt Quatre’ (French for twenty four) nearly 20 years ago and announced plans to open a second venue near Tottenham Court Road station in the St Giles Hotel. However, although food will be 24h they will NOT have a 24 alcohol licence. Their drinks service will be 08h00 to 02h00.

HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT’S HAPPENING:
London is an awesome city for events. I am asked what is happening a lot. There is no way I can cover everything happening, however there are several good sites to use, depending on what you’re seeking.
